AFTAN is a member based networking organization that adhere the practice of code of conduct of fair trade and strives to raise awareness among the artisans and producers groups to incorporate the fair trade principle into their trading system.
Its members are from diversed skill background having several years of experience in production, marketing and transferring skill. The network consist of artisan members with skill from stone carving to wooden sculupture, from metalware to brass and x-mas ornaments, from textile home furnishing to decorative giftware, from bamboo decorative ware to batik and mithila paints, silver ornaments, felt wool, knitwears, flowers making , thangka painting, khukuri, dhaka weaving and so on with over one thousand ranges of products including herbal and agro based products. Many of our members are currently supplying to Northen IFAT members through local fair trade organizations.

Our objectives are

-To make an effort to solve production and business related problems faced by artisans members in their business by coordinating and approaching different agency's expertise such as GOs, NGOs, INGOs and fair trade related organizations

-To strive for promotion of products produced by artisans members to national and international market via online and off line marketing channel

-To develop creative and innovative technology and expertise to enhance the productivity and quality of handicraft products.

- To coordinate and collaborate with like minded organization in exchanging view, expertise, skills and information by organizing seminars, workshop and exchange visits.

- To nominate artisans members to participate in national and international seminar, exhibitions, workshops etc to enhance their level of skill and expertise.

- To organize seminar, workshop, training, interaction program, exhibitions, consultation program etc that related to overall development of artisans.
